Mixed results in crash test for midsize SUVs
Another marketing opportunity for dealers: The Nissan Murano earned a Top Safety Pick+ and the Ford Flex a Top Safety Pick rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safetyês latest round of front crash tests of midsize SUVs.
Earlier winners were the Toyota Highlander for Top Safety Pick+ and the Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, Kia Sorrento and Nissan Pathfinder for Top Safety Pick.
Jeep Cherokee and Hyundai Santa Fe earned marginal ratings. The Jeep Wrangler did well in front crashes but was marginally rated in side and rear crashes. And with the prospect of rollovers, Wranglers lack of a fixed roof was another safety issue for the Insurance Institute.
