Great weather, lots of golfers and generous prizes make WANADAs Open another hit
The 2013 WANADA Open was again graced with perfect golf weather, with the Lansdowne Resort providing the ideal setting for a day of friendly competition, networking and memorable moments. Launching the shot-gun start for golf was Open Chairman Tony Santy (left)
The WANADA Open hosted 148 golfers on two championship courses and more than that attended the reception and awards banquet. Prizes were given for various sporting skills; and in the case of the dinner door prizes, for good luck.
The Albatross Skills Program
Once again, the Albatross Challenges let golfers ply their skills with the ever popular Lob Wall, Glass Blast and the Money Putt (for $2,500). The finalists for the Money Putt were Alan Tilles of Shulman Rogers and Bill Pilkington of CARFAX, neither of whom sunk the putt to win the purse. Eight golfers succeeded in the Glass Blast challenge
Maryland foursome takes WANADA Cup
In the Match Between the States, foursomes from Maryland and Virginia again competed for the coveted WANADA Cup Trophy.
Calculations were done to determine the low average team scores, and this time the Maryland team won, with an average score of 65. The winning team, pictured at right, represents the first foursome from Maryland to win since the Maryland/Virginia competition began four years ago.

Tennis ClinicAnd for the non-golfers, but sports minded, there was a tennis clinic (pictured right) with the Lansdowne pro and free play all afternoon. The resurgence of interest in tennis signals the return of a WANADA Open tennis tournament in the future. The seven players additionally got a tennis gift bag and an iTunes gift card.
