The latest Washington Auto Outlook—with data covering the first quarter of 2026—is now available for dealers. The current report outlines a predicted decline of nearly 5% in new vehicle sales for the DC metro region, largely driven by high sticker prices, tariffs and marketplace uncertainty. YTD the area is down nearly 16% YOY, as compared to the national average decline of 8.5%. That places the DC region as the third most significant metro decline of 20 metro areas studied.
