Chipping away at Obamacare, Part I

The new Republican-controlled Congress plans to pass a series of bills attacking the Affordable Care Act bit by bit, as a more viable strategy than outright repeal. The House last Thursday passed the first such measure, changing the definition of full-time workers who must be offered health insurance to those working 40 hours a week rather than 30, as in the original law.

Under current law, all employers with 50 or more full-time employees must offer them health insurance, starting January 1, 2015. A dozen Democrats joined all Republicans in the House to change the definition of full-time, and the Senate looks likely to pass the measure. But President Obama has already said he will veto it.
