WANADA Expands Technician Training Program to Manassas

WANADAs Automobile Dealer Education Institute (ADEI) has reached agreement with the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) at Manassas to offer its technician training program to WANADA dealer members in the previously underserved area. The ADEI training program involves a mentored dealership job and an in-classroom technician training scholarship to post-high school students and/or dealership employees.

The one-of-a-kind and NATEF Certified technician training program was designed by WANADA dealers to specifically address their desire to recruit and train their own technicians and provide jobs for young people in the local community interested in becoming automotive technicians. The program, which combines an in-dealership mentored work environment with one full day of in-classroom instruction at nearby community colleges by ASE certified instructors utilizing a NATEF certified curriculum, has graduated more than 200 students since its inception. There are currently 31 students in the program, which is partnered with Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. and NOVA at its Alexandria Campus.

ADEI hopes to serve dealers in the Manassas, Chantilly, and Sterling, Virginia area with its expansion to NOVA Manassas. The move also makes it possible for ADEI to offer a Diesel Engine Repair curriculum to students interested in this specialty.

WANADA dealer members interested in participating in the ADEI Technician Training Initiative can find more information at http://www.adei-programs.org/ or call Bill Belew, Program Administrator at 202-237-7200.
