Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America to Headline Green Car Summit Panel

Stefan Jacoby, the CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, and a man with a very ambitious plan for growing his companys presence in the U.S. market to 800,000 units, will be the lead symposium speaker at the Green Car Summit on Capitol Hill on January 25.

The Summit is the kick-off event for The 2010 Washington Auto Show and the first Public Policy Day. The event is produced for The WAS by The Green Car Journal. It will take place in the Caucus Room of the Cannon House Office Bldg., beginning at 1:30 pm on Monday, January 25, and will be in the form of a panel discussion on how to sustain personal mobility for the American public while minimizing or eliminating damage to the environment. The panel discussion will be moderated by noted Washington Post automotive writer, Warren Brown.

Joining VWoAs Jacoby on the panel will be: Brian Wynne, president of the Electric Drive Transportation Association; Sidney Goodman, vice president at Better Place; Nancy Gioia, director of Global Electrification at Ford Motor Co.; Scott Becker, senior vice president at Nissan North America; Dr. Alan Lloyd, president of the International Council on Clean Transportation; and Kevin Czinger, president and CEO of CODA Automotive.

Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of The Green Car Journal will make the introductory remarks at the event and on the following day will announce the winner of the 2010 Green Car Vision Award, during Public Policy Day OnSite at The Washington Auto Show. The 2010 finalists include the Nissan Leaf, CODA Sedan, Ford Focus BEV, Mercedes-Benz F-Cell, and Toyota Prius PHV. These vehicles represent the most promising and forward-looking approaches today, including battery electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, Cogan said.
