Manheim’s Baltimore-Washington Auto Exchange in Elkridge, Md., will celebrate its grand opening March 22 with a sale of more than 2,000 vehicles. The state-of-the-art auction, which was upgraded from the original facility built in 1979, is housed on a 285-acre lot, with 900-dealer parking spaces and a 500-space overflow lot.
BWAE features 10 lanes with plasma screens in each lane to accommodate simulcast sales, as well as a conference center, full-service cafeteria, 50,000-square-foot paint and body shop and mechanic shop. The facility also includes a dealer technology center where dealers will have access to personal computers with high-speed Internet service and fax and printing capabilities.
The grand opening event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, special guests to perform the national anthem and prizes. Prior to the auction, a grand-opening party will be held on the evening of March 21.
