In Memoriam Frank L. Cowles, Jr

WANADA reports with sadness the passing of longtime Washington area dealer, Frank Cowles, Jr.

He died last weekend at the age of 80.

Frank founded Cowles Nissan, Cowles Chrysler and Cowles Parkway Ford all in Woodbridge, Va. Earlier in his career; he was counsel and on the executive team of the Rosenthal Companies in Arlington, Va. Besides being a lawyer and an automobile dealer, he was also proud of his past service in the United States Marines and as an officer of the peace. Close friends affectionately referred to him as The Sheriff. He also served as chairman of the board of the Arlington-based Virginia Commerce Bank.

He is survived by his wife Leila Rachid Cowles, who once served as ambassador to the U.S. from Paraguay, and his sons Steven Cowles and Monte Cowles, both of whom worked with their father in the Cowles dealerships.

The family will receive visitors at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Interment later will be private.
