FTC Increases Annual DNC Registry Access Fee and
Preserves Five-Area-Code Exemption
The Federal Trade Commission has issued a final rule that increases the National Do-Not-Call Registry access fee from $56 per area code to $62 per area code. In addition, the rule will continue to exempt the first five registered area codes from the fee requirement. The final rule also increases the maximum annual fee cap from $15,400 to $17,050 for entities accessing 280 area codes or more. The new fees took effect on Sept. 1, 2006. Accordingly, dealerships that register six or more area codes must pay the revised fee when they renew their current subscription accounts.
