Friendship Heights Rotary Donates To WANADA Apprenticeship Training Program

It pays to have friends in high places. As president of the Friendship Heights Rotary, Archie Avedisian was instrumental in getting his club to recognize WANADAês Apprenticeship Training program as a –Centennial Project,” and to donate $1000 to WANADAês Community Support Foundation for help in defraying costs of tools given to apprentices as well as other costs for maintaining the program.

On hand for the check presentation was Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Lee Cork, manager of Technical Support Operations for Ford Motor Company, WANADAês corporate partner for the Apprenticeship program. Van Hollen and Cork noted the success of the three-year Ford/WANADA partnership, and praised the Friendship Heights Rotary for its generous donation.

Archie, as many readers know, is part of WANADAês –tech team” (which also includes staff members Bill Belew, Nick Champeau and consultant Dr. Mike Wilson). Itês their job to recruit, employ and train apprentices. He also has spoken to many other Rotary clubs about making WANADAês program a –Centennial Project,” which will hopefully lead to additional donations in the future.
