Celebrating a long life and distinguished dealership career: Chevy Chase Cars remembers Sam Weaver, Sr.
Friends and family of Sam Weaver, Sr., a career automobile man who spent 51 years at Chevy Chase Cars, celebrated his life Sunday with a picnic in Buckeystown, MD. Sam Sr. passed away in April at the age of 78. Organized by Sam Weaver, Jr., who followed his dad at Chevy Chase, knew his father would have preferred the festive atmosphere of a social gathering then a standard funeral.
Sam Sr. started CCCs first truck department which grew and prospered under his leadership of more than 20 years. He retired at age 75 and never stopped worrying about his customers automotive needs until the end. He earned numerous awards and honors, including being one of the nations top 10 Chevrolet truck retailers. He was beloved by all who knew and worked with him at Chevy Chase and was widely credited with keeping the trains running on time in his part of the operation.
Sam is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris; three children, Sam Jr., Terry and Linda; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
