Brown Opens Mazdas First Retail Revolution Dealership Here

Mazda brought out the big guns last week, including its president of North American Operations, Jim OSullivan, for the grand opening of the areas first Retail Revolution Dealership, Browns Chantilly Mazda.

One of only a dozen such stores in the Northeast region, and 104 nationwide, Browns Chantilly Mazda dealer operator Robert DeVaux said that Retail Revolution Dealerships feature eye-catching design, with an airy, open interior and lots of glass, including a second story jewel box to display the latest new products, like the MX-5 sports car. There is also an Internet Caf©, with interactive touch screen computers, a theater for product videos, and a test drive center that offers unique driving experiences.

Finding the hook to get someone to walk in and look at a vehicle is key, and we think weve done it with the Retail Revolution concept, said Mr. OSullivan. He conceded, however, that times are tough, with a perfect-storm of low consumer confidence, difficulty accessing credit and long-term financial uncertainty. Mazda is as well positioned as weve ever been, and I can assure you were in it for the long haul, Mr. OSullivan added.

Charles Stringfellow, chairman of Brown Automotive and WANADA board member, acknowledged the challenging business environment, but said he had no regrets on the timing of the Mazda stores grand opening. The Retail Revolution concept is great, and I am confident it will pay off nicely when market conditions improve, as they inevitably will, said Mr. Stringfellow.
