Washington per capita income 4th highest among 50 metros

The Washington area had the fourth highest per capita income among the nations 50 largest metro areas in 2012, according to the Commerce Departments Bureau of Economic Analysis. That was the case even though income growth here slowed considerably, rising 1.5 percent to $61,743. Nationwide, per capita income grew 3.4 percent, compared with 5.3 percent in 2011.

Among large metro areas, Bridgeport, Conn., had the highest per capita income last year, at $81,068.
