Most business owners not worried about credit card security

Most independent business owners are not worried about credit card security, even after recent hackings at Target and Neiman Marcus, according to a recent poll by NewTek Business Services.

The poll showed that 67 percent of the 1,400 business owners polled remain unconcerned about credit card security at their business. Nearly that many, 63 percent, are unaware of EMV chip card technology, which NewTek describes as a global standard for credit and debit payment cards based on chip card technology. Payment chip cards contain an embedded microprocessor, a type of small computer that provides strong security features and other capabilities not possible with traditional magnetic stripe cards.
