Green is gaining in car color popularity

When it comes to car colors, it looks as if green may become the new black – or the new white or silver, which have been the top colors for years.

Global chemical company BASF spends a lot of time studying trends in car colors. Its not the simple matter it might appear. With new technologies, new models and new mobility concepts, a shift in values is on the horizon, says Mark Gutjahr, BASFs head of design Europe. In this context, green as the color of growth and a new beginning is playing a key role.

Color preferences vary by region. The design language in Europe is characterized by soberness and quality, says a statement from BASF, and – wouldnt you know it? – clarity and directness characterize the colors in North America. Green-yellow is also gaining in popularity on this side of the pond.
