Hands On Contest by Toyota

To Support Local Charity

It just wouldnêt be The Washington Auto Show (WAS) without it: The Annual –Hands On Contest,” Washingtonês signature live reality show, has become a beloved feature for patrons and media alike. For the 10th year running, this –gripping drama” will –take hold” of The 2007 WAS as contestants try to stay in constant physical contact with one of three 2007 Toyotas for five grueling days.

In a tradition that began last year, one of the vehicles will serve as the charity car that contestants will compete for as a donation to their favorite charity. And a fourth vehicle will be awarded to the first person to correctly predict which contestants will win each car via voting on The WAS Web site: www.washingtonautoshow.com.

The contest, sponsored by Toyota, launches on Jan. 23, International Media Preview Day, one day before the show opens to the public, and ends with the conclusion of the show, at 6:00 p.m. on Jan. 28. The contest is sponsored by WANADA, the Washington Area Toyota Dealers and Classic Rock 94.7 The Arrow, which will select the lucky contestants. This year, the Toyotas –up for grabs” are the Yaris, the Prius, the Camry Hybrid and the Rav4.

When it began in 1997, the Hands On Contest featured just one car giveaway. In the past decade, the contest has grown and been the subject of more than 850 television and print stories, including national coverage from Good Morning America to CNN and local media that cover the contest each year. In addition, countless friendships have been made as past contestants have reported reunions and get-togethers with their fellow –hangers-on.”
