Air fresheners in Cars are a $50 Million Business

Who would have imagined that just over $50 million dollars went into the car freshener business last year? At an average price of $2.65 each, that put nearly 19 million air fresheners in circulation in 2009. Remarkably, that was $8 million less than what was spent the year before.

Industry press materials say the business is driven by the profusion of flavors available. There are 97 different fragrance options offered by producer, Little Tree, alone.

Among the favorite scents; Black Ice, which replicates the scent of some men's cologne.
